All Hands on Deck

The relentless, rapid-fire buzzing of an iPhone against a wooden nightstand was what finally broke Brandon Walsh's sleep.

He groaned, squinting against the bright Los Angeles morning sun cutting through the blinds of the new Walsh house. When he swiped the screen open, his notifications were a cascading wall of alerts, emails, and missed calls. The headline flashing across the top of his feed stopped his breath: Controversial Activists Banned at Acadian University—Cal U Next.

Beneath it was a high-priority, all-caps email from the Chancellor's office: EMERGENCY BRIEFING. ALL ADMINISTRATIVE AND FACULTY STAFF. CONFERENCE ROOM 202. NOW.

Downstairs in the sunlit breakfast nook, the smell of freshly brewed coffee did little to ease the tension. Emily Valentine and Bobby were already huddled over a laptop, tracking the viral social media storm.

"Look at this, Brandon," Emily said, turning the screen toward him the moment his feet hit the hardwood. Her eyes flashed with that familiar, radical spark. "Jasper and Annie Vance are a force. They aren't just coming here to give a speech; they're starting a movement. The administration is already panicking."

"They have a right to be heard, Bran," Bobby added, leaning against the counter and sliding a mug of coffee toward him. "Cal U prides itself on being a progressive haven. If the university locks those gates, it proves everything these kids are fighting against. When you get to that meeting, you have to defend them. Don't let the board bury this."

Brandon took a quick, scorching gulp of coffee, his internal journalistic radar spinning. "It’s not that simple. Acadian almost had a riot yesterday. My job is to keep the peace on this campus."

"Your job is to stand up for the truth," Emily countered softly, her hand resting on his arm. "Don't let them censor Jasper."

By the time Brandon arrived at the California University administrative complex, the atmosphere was already electric. Megaphones were barking, local news vans were parallel parking on the curbs, and students were already gathering near the main plaza with hastily painted signs.

Inside Conference Room 202, the air was thick with corporate anxiety. At the head of the long mahogany table stood Chancellor Emily Bradford, the sharply dressed blonde administrator whose striking resemblance to Kelly Taylor always commanded instant authority in a room. She was pacing, her high heels clicking aggressively against the linoleum.

"It is a logistical and PR nightmare," Chancellor Bradford declared, slamming a manicured hand onto the table as Brandon took an empty seat. "Acadian University was a circus yesterday, and I will not have California University turned into a TikTok trend for civil unrest. My position is absolute: we are issuing a preemptive ban on Jasper and Annie Vance. They do not set foot on this campus."

Brandon leaned forward, his classic Walsh idealism kicking into high gear. "Chancellor, with all due respect, banning them is exactly what they want. It validates their platform. If we shut them out, we look terrified of their message. We need to let them speak. We control the environment, provide the security, and uphold the first amendment."

"This isn't a journalism seminar, Brandon!" Chancellor Bradford snapped back, her eyes narrowing as she fixed him with a cold glare. "This is liability! This is student safety! The board is already breathing down my neck—"

"The board is reacting out of fear!" Brandon argued, his voice rising as the room's temperature spiked. "If Cal U silences dissenting voices, we lose our integrity!"

The debate erupted into a chaotic crossfire of raised voices and slamming folders, the administrators fiercely divided.

Then, all of a sudden, the heavy double doors of the conference room flew open.

The shouting died instantly.

Walking side by side into the room, radiating absolute confidence, were the two people no one expected to see. Matt Durning adjusted his sharp gray suit jacket, holding a leather briefcase, while Erin Silver stood beside him, her phone already raised as if documenting the entire room for a press release.

"Good morning, Chancellor," Matt said smoothly, stepping up to the foot of the table. "I suggest you put the ban on hold. We represent Vance Media, and we're here to talk about your compliance with federal free speech laws."
