Is the Mark of the Beast Biblical?

The only place the Mark of the beast is found is in the book of revelation. If this was truth why was it never mentioned earlier. Speaking of earlier why was this written at the earliest 130 ad while Pauls letters are as early as 46 ad. Satan will often mingle fiction and truth to confuse us. Often as simply a means to distract us from our need of a savior. That's what this is. Even to this day eastern churches reject it. Protestant reformers have also rejected it. Bishop Athanasius is the reason it's in the bible and his predecessor rejected it. You do not need to accept this book to be saved. This book is at best apocryphal and at worst a complete hoax. I say the later as Revelation contradicts Paul by saying salvation is by works and not faith alone!
