Romans 1:2
(which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures)
Romans 3:2
"Much in every way. To begin with, they (Jews) were entrusted with the oracles of God"
Col 2:16
"Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath"
Much if not all of Christendom has mistakenly assumed that oracles of God refers to the Jewish Bible aka the old testament, but it doesn't!
First of all, as I have previously mentioned, Rom 1:2 is an interpolation, so much that even the KJV uses parentheses for it, as it is considered parenthetical i.e. commentary, also parentheses, in most of Paul’s Letters/Epistles, means Paul is speaking on his own accord (Romans 3:5; 6:19; 2 Corinthians 8:8; 11:21, 23; Galatians 3:15) and not through the Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:1; 7:6; 2 Corinthians 11:17). Paul was not afraid to admit when he was speaking on his own behalf.
Romans 3:2 while not parenthetical, also cannot refer to the old testament. To begin Paul uses the term they and not us, referring to those Jews who are not Christian by any sense, they are physical Jews not spiritual Jews aka Christians, then he uses the past tense, were, indicating that at one time there were Jewish oracles but not now which would mean this isn't talking about the old testament. Of course the use of oracles and not Scriptures or commandments should also be an indication. Also if this means non Christian Jews it could mean the dead sea scrolls, or some of the apocrypha, or even the oral laws given to Moses compiled in the Talmud!! A Talmud for You?? I think not.
Now this is all verified by Col 2:16-23. However I am only accepting Colossians because the intro admits to multiple authorship, clearly this letter wasn't only written by Paul so the fact it adds Timothy as the final author makes it acceptable. But my point about this verse is this. Col 2:16-23 is about man made rules and what is included in man made rules? A lot of the old testament INCLUDING THE SABBATH which was apparently never really part of the oracles!
It can be argued that this means strict Jewish observance, man made laws about the Sabbath, yet that can't be because the old testament itself says man should judge you in these things, in fact to the point of the death penalty! Oracles of God? Doubtful. Here's what Grok has to say:
